Ice Bed

Cooling off the wine
on Sunday evening
under a bed of ice
I’ve made to reside in
the rest of my life.
Mostly, I wonder if I’m gonna see her again
if I melt away from this ice bed.
Mostly, I wonder if I'm gonna see her again, if I may.
Made a mistake that will never resolve.
Consider me late for the toast I’ve proposed.
Made a mistake I'll never live down.
Made a mistake;
I'll never live forced to reside.
I've been so compressed by the tourniquet,
but now who knows.

Goldfinch

So long, state bird of New Jersey,
and the cardinal sins
I've been worried I've been too
far into to conquer.
Cause, lately I’m a target;
the king of old habits,
reciting old proverbs
to prove I haven't lost it.
So long to the thought of being lonely,
and the Goldfinch's holy ghost.
I’ll take it as an omen,
haunting me wholly.
Consider this a token,
or a heavenly warning.
I don’t know what to say
without getting to close to
making up my own truth, and
don’t wanna to delay the
message I’m supposed to
relay to the manic man.

Park Shade

Suddenly, I fell to the ground,
sparingly making a sound.
Under green leaves,
I feel relieved
from this bitter heat.
These trees will shade me.
Entry of the tessellated sunlight
into this desolate dream,
through the cracks in the ceiling,
illuminates me.
Under green leaves,
I feel relieved
from this bitter heat.
These trees will shade me.
Suddenly, the cage caved in itself.
No longer trapped in here with me,
all the birds have been set free.
Under green leaves
we find relief. Fly!
